YEREVAN. – Miroslav Lajčák, Chairman-in-Office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, stands ready to make every effort toward settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.

Responding to the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter’s query—during Wednesday’s press conference in Yerevan—as to whether he was prepared to leave for Artsakh to observe on the spot how people live there, Lajčák said he was ready to do everything to be useful in seeking a resolution to the Karabakh conflict.

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office added that he fully trusts the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and that he was doing everything in close coordination with them.

Also, Lajčák recalled the three internationally recognized principles for conflict settlement—that is, territorial integrity, people’s right to self-determination, and non-use of force or threat thereof—and noted that these precepts are the “architecture” on which the conflict settlement should be built.

And speaking about the prospects for Artsakh’s participation in the negotiation process, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office stated that a change in the format of the negotiations should be acceptable for all parties.
