Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Tian Erlun.

As reported the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development to NEWS.am, greeting the ambassador, Minister Papikyan stated that there is great potential to enrich the centuries-old Armenian-Chinese trade and economic relations and cross-cultural ties with new content and components following the revolution that took place in Armenia.

Suren Papikyan also noted that the friendly relations between the provinces of Armenia and Chinese states, which are gradually growing, have their positive impact on enlargement of the interstate agenda. The minister described the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the Lori Province of Armenia and China’s Shanxi province within the framework of the 2nd Belt and Road Initiative to be held in Beijing on 25 April as strictly prospective and voiced hope that such high-level reciprocal visits and contacts would be ongoing.

Ambassador Tian Erlun expressed gratitude for the reception and said that the decentralized partnership of China and Armenia at the interregional level is one of the priorities of the Chinese government.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues on the deepening of administrative-territorial cooperation, activation of bilateral economic ties and the process of implementation of infrastructure projects being carried out by Chinese organizations in Armenia.
