YEREVAN. – At Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Government of Armenia, Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan presented the bill on making a supplement to the Code on Administrative Offenses.

This draft law—which was introduced by the opposition Bright Armenia faction in parliament—proposes to impose administrative liabilities against advertising loan services by non-licensed persons.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recorded that, at least at this phase, it was indispensable to enhance the financial knowledge of people in Armenia.

Also, the PM said it was surprising to him that even though the conclusion to this bill was negative, the Central Bank was in favor of this proposed law when verbally presented.

“We are dealing with the old inertia here,” Pashinyan added. “If the draft is submitted by the opposition, then it should be rejected; if this is so, it’s a very bad inertia.”

“If any draft has been introduced by the opposition, it still doesn’t mean that it should be rejected,” Nikol Pashinyan stressed addressing the government members. “From this moment, let’s record the end of that practice.”

Subsequently, the government gave a positive conclusion to the bill which the opposition Bright Armenia faction in parliament had introduced.
