The delegation headed by the Armenian Parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan visited the German Institute for International Politics and Security (SWP) and met Secretary of State for European Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Michael Roth, National Assembly’s press service reported.

During the meeting, the issues of the protection of human rights, the implementation of the Armenia-EU deal, as well as regional security were discussed. The parties highlighted the role of the Eastern Partnership for the EU and discussed the importance of starting talks on visa liberalization.

The members of the Armenian delegation took part in the plenary session, where the Chair of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble, welcomed Ararat Mirzoyan to the German parliament.

During a working lunch, Armenian parliamentarians discussed possible new Armenian-German cooperation in education and research with Dr. Safar University Professor Manfred G. Schmidt.

The delegation of the National Assembly who arrived in Saarland was received by the mayor of Saarlouis. Ararat Mirzoyan made an entry in the Book of Honorary Guests of the city.

A delegation led by A. Mirzoyan is expected to visit Saarland University on Thursday, where the head of parliament will meet with students.
