The Ministry of Defense has submitted to the government a bill regulating issues on organizing military service, and one of them refers to the restrictions on military service of brothers in the same military unit.

This regulation establishes that if two (or more) brothers are recruited at the same time, only one of them shall participate in the drawing that helps determine the military unit, and both go to the same military unit.

However, if one of the brothers is already serving in any military unit where there are special requirements (honor guard, special significance unit, etc.) for a military serviceman, and if the other brother just leaving for military service doesn’t meet those requirements, he can’t be recruited to the same military unit.

When presenting the issue during the government session, Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan explained all this in response to the question of Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technology Hakob Arshakyan, and this was when it became clear that Hakob Arshakyan had served at the same military unit with his two brothers.

Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan also intervened and said this bill provides many regulations because there were no specifications in the previous regulations.

At the end, the government approved the decision.
