Head of the state institution of the Republican People’s Party in Istanbul Canan Kaftancıoğlu has presented the certificate of the Central Electoral Commission stating the name of the mayor of Istanbul.

According to the Turkish Cumhuriyet, the name of oppositional candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu is stated as mayor of Istanbul in the Central Electoral Commission’s certificate featured in the photo presented by Canan Kaftancıoğlu.

Based on the results of the March 31 local self-government elections, oppositional candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu was elected mayor with 0.25% more votes.

The ruling party appealed the results of the elections, but there was no serious change after the recount.
