On 16 April, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Finland held political consultations in Helsinki, reports the news service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The Armenian delegation was headed by Head of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tigran Samvelyan, and the Finnish delegation was headed by Director General of the Department for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maimo Henriksson.

At the outset of the meeting, the parties attached importance to maintenance of the periodicity of the consultations and touched upon the interior political developments unfolding in Armenia and Finland.

The interlocutors discussed a broad range of issues on the Armenian-Finnish political agenda and attached importance to further deepening of cooperation in the sectors of mutual interest. They also touched upon Armenia-EU relations and the Eastern Partnership and discussed the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations and the perspectives for expansion of the cooperation between the two countries within the scope of international organizations.

Members of the Armenian delegation presented the developments that unfolded in Armenia during the past year, the government’s reforms for the strengthening of democracy, human rights protection and rule of law and the priorities for the economic revolution that the country has proclaimed.
