Employees of the 25 subcontractors for Armenia’s North-South Road Corridor will have a meeting with government officials on Thursday to discuss the demands of the employees. The employees were preparing to hold a protest today, but Gurgen Hovhannisyan, one of the organizers, was summoned to the police station in the city of Ashtarak.

The government terminated its contract with Corsan-Corviam Construccion construction firm, which is the main contractor for construction of the North-South Road Corridor, and currently, the firms having provided services to the Spanish construction firm demand that the government take the retention money and guarantee funds from the Spanish construction firm and pay them the amounts not paid for a year.

Employees of the subcontractor Gurgen Hovhannisyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the police had urged him not to hold a protest and not close the Ashtarak-Ujan road.
