A while ago, the court postponed examination of the preventive measure for former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan after a nearly two-and-a-half hours of examination and will continue to examine the issue tomorrow at 1 p.m. This is what Khachatryan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan told journalists today.

“The examination is rather extensive. The parties are presenting their arguments,” the attorney said.

Yerem Sargsyan informed that Gagik Khachatryan was attending the court hearing.

As reported earlier, the Investigation Department of the National Security Service has filed a motion to select detention as a preventive measure for Gagik Khachatryan.

Khachatryan is charged with misuse of official position and squander in particularly large amounts.

The National Security Service arrested Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew, former high-ranking official of the State Revenue Committee Karen Khachatryan on Tuesday. The same day, searches were conducted in the territories pertaining to them. Their charges are linked to alleged offences that Gagik Khachatryan committed when he was Minister of Finance and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee.
