On October 8, 2019, the Constitutional Court of Armenia will examine, through a written procedure, the compliance of the provisions of the Law “On amnesty” (adopted on November 1, 2018) with the Constitution, based on the application filed by the Criminal Court of Appeal, as reported the website of the Constitutional Court.

The Criminal Court of Appeal is challenging the compliance of particular parts of articles of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On declaring amnesty for criminal cases on the occasion of the 2,800th anniversary of the foundation of Erebuni-Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the First Republic of Armenia” with the Constitution.

Judge A. Dilanyan of the Constitutional Court has been designated to be the reporter, and the body having adopted the law being challenged, that is, the National Assembly of Armenia, will be involved in the trial as a respondent.
