The Prosperous Armenia Party recommends considering age restrictions for employment a sign of discrimination. This is what member of the Prosperous Armenia Party Tigran Urikhanyan declared during a discussion on the bill on making amendments to the Labor Code at the National Assembly today. According to him, age can’t be a reason for an employer to reject a person who can and has the desire to work. During the discussion, the MPs made more recommendations that were also incorporated in the bill.

The parliamentarians also recommended incorporating other phenomena. Thus, as a result of the decision, rejection based on gender, race, color of skin, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion, world view, political or other views, disability, age and other reasons will be considered discriminatory. Urikhanyan stated that state and private institutions often fire people for different reasons.
