The new Iranian ambassador to Russia should be Kazem Jalali, who until recently was a deputy of the country's Majlis (parliament), TASS reported referring to ISNA.

A total of 146 members of parliament voted for him.

Mejlis’ chair Ali Larijani praised the work of Jalali as a deputy, and also wished him good luck as the ambassador of Iran to Russia.

Since 2013, the post of Iranian ambassador to Russia has been held by Mehdi Sanaei. His powers as permanent representative of Iran in Moscow will expire in a few months.
