Draft budget for 2020 does not provide for the planting of 10 million trees in Armenia until October 10 of next year, said Bright Armenia MP Mane Tandilyan.

According to her, such a statement by the Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, most likely, was just an attempt to find sponsors and the good will of the head of government.

“It was just a statement, with the hope that our public would take an active part and somehow start raising funds to implement this idea or the PM’s statement,” Tandilyan explained, adding that according to the most conservative estimates about AMD 20 billion will have to be spent to implement this initiative.

She also noted that the draft budget does not provide for an increase in the share of renewable energy, the importance of which has been repeatedly stated by the government.

According to her, the project does not contain a single word about the increasing role of solar energy and other alternative types of renewable electricity.
