Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis has said that Turkey’s recent threats to Greece’s sovereignty and the unlawful and invalid memorandum of mutual understanding between Turkey and Libya will rarely lead to a conflict.

In an interview with Bild, Mitsotakis expressed certainty that the situation “won’t get out of hand” when asked if he is concerned about the escalation of the situation that may lead to a question in the Aegean Sea.

He stated that Greece won’t let Turkey violate its right to sovereignty and emphasized that Turkey is the one violating the maritime right, not Greece.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis has resolutely condemned the fact that Greece has to bear the main burden of the flow of migrants and refugees and has called on reforming the rules of the Dublin Regulation. He stated that the European Commission has promised to create a new regulation and ensure distribution of the burden among all member states.
