YEREVAN. – There are many supporters of football and the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) in Armenia and in the government, and naturally, we are not indifferent to the processes that take place in football and at the Football Federation of Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at today's meeting with the newly elected President of the FFA, Armen Melikbekyan.

According to him, football is very important for them, for three reasons. "First, the development of football is of strategic importance to us," Pashinyan explained. “Second, I think yesterday's election of the President of the FFA is important because the decriminalization of sport and the cleansing of sport from corruption is essential for the government in the context of the fight against corruption.

And third, is capacity building.

Of course, the FFA operates independently of the government, but I think having a common vision creates great opportunities for cooperation."

Subsequently, Pashinyan wished Melikbekyan success.

The latter noted in his reply that football shall develop in Armenia, and stressed that their vision was to make Armenia become distinguishable through football.
