It is my duty to stand by my colleagues. This is what singer Nune Yesayan said during an interview on Armnews TV, touching upon her and her colleagues’ signatures under the petition for the release of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan from prison.

“I joined many respected individuals to change the pre-trial measure for a person who was the second President of Armenia, is a national hero, liberated Artsakh, etc. If there is evidence during the trial, let the court sentence him, but I don’t accept the fact that he is detained until the trial,” Nune Yesayan said and emphasized that Robert Kocharyan’s son Levon Kocharyan is close with her family.

“I joined my colleagues, and it is my duty to stand by their side. When the petition was presented, there were signatories from Russia as well, and they are famous and influential people. Now there are people who ask us why we signed under the petition and refer to us as enemies. I don’t regret signing under the petition since this was my right”

The singer also touched upon the criticism against her and her family. “Some people crossed the line and invaded my family. Perhaps some people are frustrated with my long and happy married life. Whereas I didn’t punish anyone in the past, now I will.”

Nune Yesayan stressed that everyone will be held liable within the limits of the law.
