YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Yesterday at about 14:40, RA Police received a call that a man broke into Erebuni Plaza hotel with a gun, is firing and demanding to inform the location of [second President] Robert Kocharyan's office because he wants to meet with Viktor Soghomonyan; the latter is the head of Kocharyan's office.

A large number of policemen arrived at the scene, later joined by Acting Police Chief Arman Sargsyan, too. The latter, according to Ashot Aharonyan, the head of the Police Information Department, was the negotiator with the person who fired the shots.

The name of the person who broke into Erebuni Plaza yesterday is already known - Artur Torosyan. He was born in 1987 in Artashat town. Zhoghovurd daily learned that the weapon he used to shoot was [for] hunting, illegal. A criminal case has been instituted against him on charges of three (...) articles [of the Criminal Code]. He faces up to 6-10 years in prison.

And why did he do such a thing? Law enforcement officials are still in no hurry to put forward theories. It is only known that his Facebook page has been quite active, politicized. He supported Robert Kocharyan. What is interesting is that some Kocharyan supporters have recently removed him from their Facebook friends’ list.
