Eighteen police officers of Kyrgyzstan have been injured while dispersing rally, TASS reported referring to the health ministry.

Aid was provided to all of them on an outpatient basis, the ministry said.

The protesters held rally near the presidential administration and parliament demanding the release of the convicted ex-MP Sadyr Zhaparov.

However, the crowd was throwing stones at police officers, who in response used tear gas and stun grenades.

Zhaparov was detained on March 25, 2017, and the court sentenced him to 11.5 years in prison for a number of crimes.
