The Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia still has no comment on the information about the transfer of senior prisoners from Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution to other penitentiary institutions.

As Pastinfo reported earlier, some prisoners have been transferred from Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution (formerly the isolation cell of the National Security Service of Armenia) to Vardashen Penitentiary Institution, and according to Pastinfo’s sources, the reason is the high risk of spread of the coronavirus at Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution.

For commentary, Pastinfo addressed the press service of the Penitentiary Service, but the latter neither refuted nor confirmed the information and asked the newspaper to send an inquiry. Pastinfo states that it has already sent an inquiry and has found out that former chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan has also been transferred from Yerevan-Kentron Penitentiary Institution to Vardashen Penitentiary Institution.
