More than 40 citizens of New York have been arrested during protests against the murder of George Floyd, reports TASS, citing Fox News.

Fox News reports that the demonstrations have led to clashes with the police. One of the protesters smashed a trashcan on the head of a security officer, four police officers were injured and transferred to a hospital. Fox News also reports that one of the arrestees had a knife.

The protests in New York come after the disturbances in Minneapolis that began after a video showing Floyd's arrest went viral. Floyd was suspected of shopping with fake money at a store. He was handcuffed and thrown to the ground, after which a police officer pressed him on the asphalt with his knee. Floyd screamed that he couldn’t breathe, but the police officers didn’t pay attention to him. The African American was hospitalized, but doctors failed to save his life.
