YEREVAN. – There were no functional problems in the Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia during the implementation of the constitutional mission. Edgar Ghazaryan, Chief of Staff of the CC, stated this in a talk with journalists in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

"If someone is talking about any crisis in general—including the seeming crisis in the Constitutional Court, he has to answer two questions: When did that crisis arise? And how is it manifested? If anyone tries to answer these two questions, he will come to the conclusion that there is no crisis and it has not been in the Constitutional Court. The judges of the Constitutional Court have been elected legally, including the president of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmasyan," Ghazaryan said.

And referring to second President Robert Kocharyan's case, he said. "Robert Kocharyan has several petitions in the Constitutional Court, and each petition has its own examination procedure and terms. The Constitutional Court has suspended the examination of the petition in two specific cases, and applied to the ECHR and the Venice Commission. It is assumed that when the advisory opinions are received from those structures, then the issue will be discussed in the domain of the Constitutional Court, and the case will be re-examined. I did not notice that the Constitutional Court was in a hurry in any case."
