Based on sufficient evidence obtained during preliminary investigation of the criminal case being investigated by the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, a charge has been brought against Andranik Gevorgyan for committing a publicly dangerous act of concealing and distorting the real nature and origin of the amount of bribe received by his son Armen Gevorgyan (Armen Gevorgyan used to hold the position of chief of staff of the President of Armenia) and legalizing particularly large amounts (AMD 309,000,000, equivalent of USD 1,000,000).

The Special Investigation Service told Armenian News-NEWS.am that in the spring of 2008, Armen Gevorgyan, receiving a bribe of the aforementioned particularly large amounts with the help of a close one, to conceal and distort the real nature and origin of the amount, secured transfers of the amount of the bribe under names of different legal persons, as well as in the bank account of an organization that de facto belonged to him and was operating abroad. Later, executive director of the specified organization Andranik Gevorgyan, helping legalize the properties criminally obtained by his son, possessed the specified amount and invested it in entrepreneurial activities carried out by the organization, distorting and concealing the real nature and origin of the bribe.

Signature to not leave the country has been selected as a pre-trial measure against Andranik Gevorgyan.
