Twitter has removed tens of thousands of accounts related to China, Russia, and Turkey used for propaganda, misinformation, or attacks.

According to it, the largest batch of accounts was connected with China - 23,750 accounts (Turkey - 7,340 accounts, Russia - 1,152).

All accounts and their contents were removed from Twitter, and placed in an archive database for researchers.

Twitter said Chinese accounts spread geopolitical stories beneficial to the Chinese Communist Party, promoting misleading information about Hong Kong's political dynamics.

In its analysis, Twitter said the Turkish accounts were discovered in early 2020 and were primarily aimed at strengthening domestic support for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling party.

Russian accounts were involved in cross-posting and enhancing content in an inappropriate, coordinated manner for political purposes.
