The Human Rights Defender of Armenia today posted the following on his Facebook page:

“By the assignment of the representatives of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, the representatives today paid a surprise visit to “Armavir” Penitentiary Institution to guarantee the rights of those who have declared a hunger strike.

The representatives held personal talks with the people on strike and checked their medical documents, and based on the results of the personal talks, out of the five people who have declared a hunger strike, one has stopped the strike.

The results of the visit will be summed up, and, if necessary, letters will be addressed to the competent state bodies.”
