During a discussion on the bills on making amendments to the Law on Social Assistance and related laws held as part of the special session of the National Assembly of Armenia today, deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction Naira Zohrabyan said Armenia is still not ready for the provision of social services under the “one-stop shop” principle.

Zohrabyan also stressed that the idea is partially acceptable since her political party has talked about the need and importance to establish the “one-stop shop” principle several times so that citizens won’t have to address dozens of institutions to solve one problem. “There are several questions from social services and citizens. For instance, persons with limited capabilities ask me how they will be able to travel from one destination to the next in order to benefit from the “one-stop shop” principle,” the deputy clarified and accepted the fact that this system has been one of the most corrupt systems in Armenia for many years.

During a special session today, with 99 votes “in favor”, the National Assembly approved the amendments made to the Law on Social Assistance and related laws in the first reading. The bill was introduced by the Government.
