Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova says Moscow calls on the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to show maximum restraint, to not allow the interference of external forces and to work in the direction of ceasefire, de-escalation of tension and resumption of negotiations, RIA Novosti reported.

“During the week, the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone remained tense, reciprocal shelling was noticed on the entire line of contact of the military clashes of the parties, civilian objects were also targeted. We call on the parties to show extreme restraint, refrain from striking the civilian populations and not allow the interference of external forces. It is necessary to work in the direction of ceasefire, de-escalation of tension and resumption of negotiations in order to reach a peaceful settlement hinged on the fundamental principles,” Zakharova said during a briefing.
