At the request of the locals, the Russian peacekeeping contingent has deployed an observation post near the Dadivank Monastery in the Kelbajar (Karvachar) region of Nagorno-Karabakh. This is what Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov said during today’s briefing, TASS reported.

“The command of the peacekeeping contingent and the local regimes collaborated to solve the issues related to religious denominations of the communities. At the request of the locals, Russian peacekeepers have deployed an observation post near the ancient Christian Dadivank Monastery located in the Kelbajar region,” Konashenkov added.

Russian peacekeepers are being deployed in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone in accordance with the agreements recorded in the joint statement of the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia on complete ceasefire. Overall, 1,960 servicemen will be deployed with technical equipment, and the command post is deployed in Stepanakert.
