US Vice-President Kamala Harris’ India-based uncle intends to visit the United States to congratulate his niece on becoming vice-president as soon as he gets vaccinated against COVID-19, Voice of America reported.

This is what Gopalan Balachandran, who is the uncle of the first woman, first African-American and first American of Asian origin to become Vice-President of the United States, said Thursday.

Indians were very happy to learn about the political success of Harris, who is the daughter of an indigenous Indian specializing in cancer research and a Jamaican.

Based in Delhi, Balachandran is involved in defense research and says he was happy to hear Harris recall her mother several times in her speeches.

Harris’ parents met in California where they were studying in the 1960s.
