Presidents of Russia and the United States of America Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden had a telephone conversation. According to the Kremlin’s press service, Putin congratulated Biden on assuming office and stated that the normalization of Russia-US ties would meet the interests of both countries and, taking into consideration their special responsibility for maintaining security and stability in the world, the interests of the whole international community.

The presidents expressed satisfaction with the fact that they had reached agreements on extension of the CHB agreement and with the exchange of diplomatic notes.

They also discussed current issues on the bilateral and global agendas and the opportunities for cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, as well as in other sectors, including trade and economy.

Among the global topics, they touched upon the US government’s unilateral exit from the Open Sky Agreement, maintenance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear program, the settlement of the Ukrainian issue, as well as the Russian initiative to hold a summit with the permanent members of the UN Security Council.
