YEREVAN. - Weekly loans provided by Armenia’s commercial banks total $100-110 million – 20-25% increase as compared with the same period last year.

This testifies to intensification of Armenia’s economy. Interestingly, two thirds of loans granted by commercial banks are AMD loans, while the rest are granted in US dollar. In 2011 the number of AMD credits as compared with US dollar ones has increased.

According to information provided by Armenia’s Central Bank (CBA), AMD credits granted by commercial banks from May 30 to June 6 total $70 million, while US dollar credits - $44.8 million. The total amount of loans granted by commercial banks over the week made $115 million.
