Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan today received Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohsen Baharvand. Among the attendees was Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.

Greeting the guests, Simonyan expressed certainty that the high level of Armenian-Iranian relations provides good opportunities for further development of cooperation in the infrastructure sector.

The parties touched upon several transport projects, including opportunities for cooperation within the scope of the Persian Gulf and Black Sea international transport corridor and North-South road corridor projects. Simonyann also informed the Iranian deputy foreign minister about the procedural issues for submission of phytosanitary control documents during border crossings that Armenia’s cargo transporters have raised and offered the Iranian side to consider the opportunities to facilitate the procedure and solve the issue electronically and based on the principle of reciprocity.
