YEREVAN. – Prior to the ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin to Armenia, US$220 million worth of finished products were imported to the republic from Turkey. Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan noted this during his presentation of the government's activity report for 2020 at Thursday’s sitting of the National Assembly of Armenia, responding to the MPs' questions.

According to him, the Armenian government intends to extend this ban. "It is the volume of potential production, which is important for Armenia. I believe that place [of Turkish goods] should be taken by our domestic economic entities," Grigoryan added.

Also, he noted that Armenia has not imposed a ban on the import of equipment and raw materials, so as not to cause additional problems for manufacturers.
