At least 27 people were killed and nearly 100 missing in the storm that hit India, AFP reported.

Cyclone Tauktae is the latest in a growing number of increasingly violent storms in the Arabian Sea as climate change heats its waters.

Hundreds of thousands of people were left without electricity after a storm hit the coast of Gujarat in western India overnight.

Winds of up to 130 kilometers per hour knocked down power lines and thousands of trees, blocking roads to the affected areas, officials said.
