There is serious potential to introduce major changes for development of high technology in the months to come. This is what acting Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia Hayk Chobanyan told reporters today.

Chobanyan said he has been receiving 5-6 groups every day for the past one-and-a-half months and that the groups have presented initiatives that are primarily devoted to the arms industry.

The acting minister said he is against public discourse over projects for creating new weapons or military equipment. “The country can’t develop and ensure long-term security without big leaps in the high technology sector. This is the Armenian government’s overriding objective, and the current objective of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry is to combine high technology and the arms industry,” Chobanyan emphasized.
