The Russian Federation Council wants to start cooperation with the new parliament of Armenia as soon as possible. This was announced by chairperson Valentina Matviyenko of the Federation Council at a press conference, TASS reports.

Matviyenko said that she hopes that the new leadership of Armenia is also interested in continuing economic and political cooperation with Russia.

She added, however, that it is too early to speak about full parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Armenia, as the final Armenian legislature has not been formed yet. "Official data [on the results of Armenia’s snap parliamentary elections on June 20] have not been released yet. But it is known that the political forces with which the Russian Federation has been working for many years already, and with which there is working contact, have won [the elections]," Valentina Matviyenko added.
