By the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, eminent Russian Armenian historian, scientific director of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Aleksandr Chubaryan has been awarded the 1st Degree Order of Merit for the Motherland.

According to this decree, Chubaryan was awarded this order for his considerable contribution to and many years of fruitful work for the development of historical science.

Aleksandr Chubaryan was born on October 14, 1931 in Moscow.
