It is very important for Armenia to have a legal system that will allow businesses to develop in a fair environment. UK Ambassador John Gallagher said this during a discussion Thursday on the prospects of criminal liability of legal entities in Armenia.

According to him, today there is interest in Armenia in the fight against economic crimes, such as fraud and non-payment of taxes, which can cause serious damage to the economy.

Gallagher noted that such crimes have a negative impact on the legal system, too.

The ambassador said they hope that the development of corporate responsibility in economic relations will help Armenia’s businesses to have more reliable legal mechanisms, and raise the country's standing in the international arena. He added that the UK has a considerable track-record in this domain, and that Armenia can study and use it.
