Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.

Ararat Mirzoyan congratulated his Polish counterpart on Poland's presidency in the OSCE, assuring that Armenia will provide assistance to the efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the OSCE zone, the Foreign Ministry press service reported.

The sides discussed the situation in Kazakhstan. Minister Mirzoyan presented the Armenian side's position on the issue, reflected in the January 6 statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

Mirzoyan said that according to Kazakhstan's official statement, based on the Collective Security Treaty, the organization's charter, as well as the agreement on the CSTO peacekeeping activities, the CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send peacekeepers to Kazakhstan for a limited period to protect strategic facilities.

Touching upon the issues of regional security, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. In this regard, Ararat Mirzoyan underscored the support of Poland as OSCE Presidency to the efforts of the Co-Chairs aimed at the comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the conflict based on the well-known principles and elements.

The interlocutors also touched upon the solution of urgent humanitarian issues, particularly the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and others.
