British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is preparing a massive government purge amid the lockdown party scandal, Gazeta reports citing The Times.

As noted by the publication, the prime minister wants to save his own skin and is not going to take responsibility for the issues that have arisen.

Johnson believes that for unknown reasons, his team did not provide assistance and allowed what happened, so a forced refresh of personnel is necessary. Also, sponsors turned their backs on Johnson, threatening to stop funding.

The PM also plans to make populist statements to maintain his position. Among such statements will be proposals for a ban on drinking on Downing Street, the lifting of coronavirus restrictions and the fight against illegal migrants.
