Lithuania has signed an agreement with Turkey on the purchase of Bayraktar TB2 combat drones that will be delivered to the Ukrainian army.

In his official Twitter account, Lithuanian National Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said: "Agreement was signed in Turkey today with the President of the Turkish Defense Agency prof. Ismail Demir in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania. This agreement paves the way for the purchase of Bayraktar, for which Lithuanians raised almost € 6 mln in 3 days!"

"It is unbelievable but Turkey just agreed to give the Bayraktar that Lithuania gathered money for free. It is amazing! For the gathered money we will buy the needed ammunition for the Bayraktar and the rest of the money will also go for support of Ukraine. Thank you Türkiye! he noted.

Last week, the Lithuanian Internet broadcaster Laisves TV, founded by journalist and activist Andrius Tapinas, launched a campaign that raised about 5 million euros to buy Turkish drones for the Ukrainian army.

The deal to buy Turkish weapons was signed by Lithuanian Deputy Defense Minister Vilius Semeska and the head of the Turkish Defense Industry Authority.

According to the agreement, at least six drones will be delivered, including the necessary equipment for their operation.
