Speaking about the observance of the “one China” principle, the United States is actually destabilizing the situation and contributing to the militarization of the Taiwan Strait zone. This was stated on Monday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, TASS reported.

According to him, the United States remains the main culprit in the militarization of the Taiwan Strait.

“The biggest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is the separatist forces in Taiwan, whose actions are backed by the United States,” Wang said at the briefing. This is how he commented on the recent statement by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, on the US commitment to the One China principle.

The diplomat recalled that the United States maintains official contacts with Taipei, despite the protests of Beijing, and noted that Washington also periodically takes provocative actions to destabilize the situation in the South China Sea, sending US Navy ships there. At the same time, he pointed out that at the same time the White House “is trying to denigrate the face of the PRC.”

“The United States claims in vain that it adheres to the principle of ‘One China.’ In fact, they constantly break their promises,” the Chinese official concluded.
