Italy's Financial Guard has frozen the assets of Russians for a total of 1.7 billion euros since anti-Russian sanctions on Ukraine were imposed, the country's Finance Ministry's security unit said in a statement.

"Since 23 February, in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the subsequent military escalation, the Financial Guard has launched targeted economic and property checks on individuals and legal entities listed in the lists of restrictive measures imposed by the European Union," the Fing Guard reported in a consolidated report marking the anniversary of the agency's founding in 1774.

It is noted that such inspections affected more than 1.1 thousand entities that contributed to the violation or threat to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

The report said that as of 31 May, freezing measures were imposed on 14 entities, including buildings, vehicles, ships, land and company shares worth more than 1.7 billion euros.
