Sweden and Finland will make a significant contribution to the NATO alliance, said French President Emmanuel Macron, AP reported.

During a meeting at the NATO summit on Wednesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the parties noted the importance of sending a signal of unity and strength against the backdrop of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Macron praised the deal reached with Turkey, which agreed to lift its veto over Sweden and Finland joining the alliance.

The sides also discussed the need to find ways to allow the export of Ukrainian grain. They agreed to continue coordination and work with the UN to achieve conditions for ensuring the security of the Odessa port and sea convoys in the Black Sea.
