Armenia has applied to the CSTO in accordance with the fourth point of the agreement and has not received adequate support from the CSTO so far, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan said during an interview to Public Television.

"First of all, we have to understand what we expect from the CSTO when there is an attack on our sovereign territory and invasion on the internationally recognized border of Armenia. First of all, a fixation of aggression. Secondly, condemnation, thirdly, elimination of the consequences of aggression, and fourthly, concrete actions in case of non-compliance. Unfortunately, at this point we cannot say that our expectations are justified. It is necessary to understand whether they will be justified or not, and to draw appropriate conclusions. We have an example when the situation was recorded and there was a reaction within a few hours, we are talking about the events that took place in Kazakhstan at the beginning of the year," Rubinyan said.

Armen Grigoryan, CSTO Secretary, also considered the reaction of the CSTO disproportionate in his interview to a media outlet on September 16. In particular, he said that when the CSTO deployed troops to Kazakhstan, CSTO mechanisms of operational response were activated, but now, in the case of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, there is no such hope. Some pro-government MPs also made anti-Russian statements.
