Turkey extended the existing contracts with gas suppliers and signed new contracts on liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the sake of overcoming the economic crisis. This was reported by the TV channel Oda TV, citing sources in the Ministry of Energy of the Republic.

The main supplier of gas to Turkey is Russia. Bloomberg reported earlier that Ankara has asked Moscow to postpone some of its payments for natural gas until 2024 in order to mitigate the economic damage from rising energy prices.

According to Oda TV, Turkey is 100% full of its Tuz Golu and Silivri underground natural gas storage facilities. The daily capacity consumed increased from 92 million to 362 million cubic meters. In addition, Ankara conducted active diplomatic negotiations on energy issues, particularly under the leadership of Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez.

Measures have been taken to solve the energy crisis in the international arena and cooperation has been established, the report said, without mentioning whether cooperation with Russia has taken place.
