Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia has applied to the CSTO, of which it is are a member, and that organization has decided to send a preliminary observation mission or a fact-finding mission. His remarks came at a joint press conference with Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt in Yerevan on Tuesday.

"Officials came, prepared a report based on their protocols, and it was presented to all member states of the organization. The secretariat introduced a draft decision on this basis. Through oral discussions, we tried to understand when a meeting of the CSTO Council can take place, where the leaders of the countries can also discuss the deployment of a new observation mission. We are at this stage, there is no decision, there are discussions. There should be a council meeting.

The political assessment of the situation that our allied states will make is also extremely important to us here. First of all we need to understand to what extent the organization recognizes the existing situation. And this is aggression against Armenia and invasion on its sovereign territory," Mirzoyan said.
