Iran wants to see Armenia stable. Iran is the envoys of peace in Armenia, Iranian Consul General in Kapan Abedin Varamin told journalists on Friday.

The Consul General reminded that high-ranking Iranian officials have repeatedly and quite clearly stated that internationally recognized borders as well as the territorial integrity of countries should be respected.

Varamin drew attention to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian's words that Armenia's security is Iran's security.

"We are very clear that we do not officially recognize any border changes. We want a peaceful and stable Armenia," the diplomat said.

He said the interests of the two countries will be taken into account and urged the residents of Kapan not to worry.

"I would advise the residents of Kapan not to worry. We are here for the sake of the Armenian people. I am here myself," the Consul General stressed.

Varamin added that the opening of the Iranian consulate general demonstrates the firm determination of the leaders of the two countries to continue developing bilateral cooperation.
