The loss of Russian diesel supply, combined with disruption in fuel production in France, have left parts of Europe short, according to the head of Spanish oil refiner Repsol SA, Bloomberg reported.

“We are running out of middle distillates in some European countries,” Chief Executive Officer Josu Jon Imaz said on an earnings call, referring to the category of oil products that includes diesel, heating oil and jet fuel. “There is room to see high diesel prices in the coming months.”

The head of the company noted that the recent strikes in France, which paralyzed the work of oil refineries, also damaged the supply of European fuel and stimulated related imports to the region. He emphasized that there may be diesel fuel inflation in Europe in the coming months.

Bloomberg recalled that Europe is an importer of diesel fuel, boiler fuel, and aviation kerosene. At the same time, their demand increases at the end of the year, and this is due to the need for heating in winter.
