Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had a telephone conversation, the Foreign Ministry reported.

The diplomats discussed topical issues of the Azerbaijani-Iranian agenda and the situation in the region.

The Foreign Ministers stressed the need to resolve the recent situation in bilateral relations through mutual dialogue and understanding and expressed their concerns over public rhetoric and other existing problems.

Among other things, they noted the benefits that could be gained by establishing contacts between the Foreign Ministry spokesmen of the two countries.

"During the phone conversation, the ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest and noted the importance of continuing contacts," the Azerbaijani ministry pointed out.
