Member of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) Rovshan Mammadov was tortured at the police station after he was detained during the November 11 protest, he told his lawyer Neimat Kerimli at a meeting at the police department.

Kerimli told Turan Agency that the meeting violated the confidentiality of communication between the lawyer and his client. At first he was offered to communicate through a glass partition.

"After I protested we were given a face-to-face meeting. But a police officer was present nearby and this is a violation of the law," Kerimli said.

Mammadov recounted the torture at the Sabail District 8 police station in Baku, after his detention.

In this regard, the lawyer today submitted a complaint to the prosecutor's office.

According to the lawyer, Mammadov was charged with offenses (disorderly conduct and failure to obey the police) and sentenced to 30 days in jail. The lawyer pointed out the inconsistency of the accusation of Mammadov that he broke the window of the police car.

According to him, the video shot by journalists also shows that Mamedov did not break the window of the police car.

The head of the Interior Ministry Press Service Department Elshad Hajiyev rejected the allegations of torture of Mamedov in the police.
